How to Incorporate White in your Interior

White may not be everyone’s first choice for a favorite color, but it sure does make a difference, especially in interior spaces. In fact, the color white is appreciated much in interior design because it is versatile enough to either become a complementary color or a main color. White may be the simplest color, but there is a whole spectrum of white in varying tones and hue. You can find them obscured in names like snow, chantilly, gypsum, egg shell, milk, ivory, titanium white, cotton, etc. White offers effortless glam and sophistication in any interior. Here’s how you can use it:

1. White Ceilings

White creates the illusion of a taller ceiling, therefore making the space look spacious vertically. Light bounces off of its surfaces, offering a fresher, new perspective to any room. Lighter colors tend to look subtle, highlighting architectural details that need to, unifying the other parts of the space.

2. White Walls

Similarly in white ceilings, white walls make the space larger horizontally. For so long, white has become a default color when one wants to go the minimalist route, because it is a blank canvas that blurs in the background to help other pieces shine. It brings comfort and coziness, and an overall classic choice.

3. White Furniture

White is complementary to all colors. Knowing this gives you freedom and creative burst to play with other colors for your space. The use of white will give a visual monotony to maintain a harmonious style. Aside from colors, white also goes well with different textures. Leather, natural texture, tactile texture, name it. White works well. The combination of colors and texture makes for one great sensory experience.

4. White Accessories

If you’re afraid to take a risk with white colors on large spaces but love it incorporated nonetheless, then using it as added details on certain pieces can still work! The color allows for these pieces to pop out, and can also allow for the eye to rest and cool down, if you have bright, contrasting colors on large spaces.

5. White Light

Usually, the colors of light vary depending on one’s preference and purpose for the space. This is because there are settings wherein warm colors suit more than cool colors, especially in the food industry. White or cool lighting is usually used in commercial applications because it directs the consumers’ attention to the product you are selling. Use white light in commonly-shared areas, or your home office, because it makes your brain stay awake and improves one’s productivity.
