Installing WPC Siding is the foolproof way to protect your home and to apply a decorative element to your exterior. Gone are the days where you only rely on traditional finishing materials like paint to shield and beautify your home. With a strong material like WPC Siding, you are guaranteed safety and protection all year long. WPC Siding is a composite material consisting of plastic and wood composites, enhancing its durability and aesthetics, minimizing the need for excessive cleaning and maintenance. Like most outdoor wall cladding materials, WPC Siding is connected via an interlocking system to keep it secure and immoveable. WPC Siding Installation is quick and easy, and if you follow the recommended steps and materials of your local supplier, you can experience a hassle-free renovation.
How to Install WPC Siding
- Prepare all the needed materials before starting the installation to ensure quick and proper installation. The following are the materials you need for the installation:
- Tape Measure
- Level
- Circular Saw
- Power Drill
- Rubber Mallet
- Subframes
- WPC Siding Panels
- Starter Clips
- L-corners
- Screws
- Construction adhesives
- Install subframes at a distance of 300 – 400mm apart, perpendicular to the desired direction of the WPC siding panels, ensuring the starter clip can be installed in the middle of the subframe.
- Leave a gap of at least 10mm at the bottom of the panel and the ground to allow for expansion and contraction, and to prevent exposure to water.
- Add double framing for lengths exceeding 2.9m or where two panels meet end to end and additional frame around obstacles such as corners, windows, and doors.
- Begin by levelling starter clips at the bottom of the joist where the panels will sit on.
- Predrill holes into the subframe and fix the starter clip with appropriate screws.
- Take a WPC siding and place the side with the lip down onto the leveled starter clip then gently tap it on top to set it in place.
- Predrill and screw the panels on the side with the groove through each subframe.
- Install the panels row by row by slotting them onto the previous panel and securing them with screws.
- For the areas with surrounding fixtures such as windows and doors, cut WPC siding panels along their length to suit the shape and design of the fixtures. Secure these panels in unsupported sections by fixing them to a supporting subframe as needed.
- Repeat the necessary steps until reaching the desired length.
- Finish each corner of the WPC siding with L-corner and use construction adhesives to attach them.
- On exposed corners like sides of windows and doors, cut the end trim to length needed to ensure a neat angle around them.
